Bittersweet side table with live edge slice top of spalted maple. The table top slice came from a spalted maple log at the sawmill I use – I chose it for its interesting grain, pattern and bark. Spalting forms dark figures in the wood in addition to the normal grain pattern. A check developed during drying which I filled in with epoxy mixed with black pigment for an interesting effect.
